I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Initial:

Expansion of existing plant to 1.0 MGD capacity. Project to inclUde improvements
similar to those included in the 1985 documents - except modify to reflect recent
equipment developments and to reflect the new surface water treatment rule.
Replace the 4 and 6-inch raw transmission lines with 14-inch pipe, thereby raising
the hydraulic control elevation so that water can be routed by gravity to the
operating reservoir.

Estimated Project Budget $650,000.

Future:

Expand plant in either 0.5 MGD modules, or as one project. Expansion need not
be similar to existing plant configuration. Approximate Cost $1,200,000.

Alternate C-2
For this alternative a new plant would be constructed at a new site. The most probable location
would be below Cooley Reservoir, so as to take advantage of the head available.

A second option as to plant site would be southwest of the operating reservoir, at an elevation
of about 6,300 feet. This is the site studied by CH2M HiII('6), however, it was llsed in conjunction
with a new pumped diversion raw water supply. Review of this site indicates that it would be on
steep, relatively inaccessible, terrain.

A third option would be to locate the plant just southwest of the present tank, at elevation 6040.
This would allow gravity feed of finished water into the system.

For initial construction of a 1.0 MGD plant, at €lither location, the project cost would be over $1.5
million.

Alternate C-3
This altemate would result in two permanent plants. The existing plant would be expanded to
1.0 MGD capacity initially (project similar to that described in Alternate C-1). The future plant
would have approximately 1.0 MGD capacity and be located just below Cooley Reservoir. This
plant could supply the High Zone directly by gravity, and would furnish supplemental water to
the Base Zone.

Water Treatment Plant Conclusions
The initial plant expansion/improvement project should be at the present site, as described under

Alternative C-1.

7Q-OaO.035:MSTR.PLN

111-18
