.

.

developed
estimated
office.

equations. Irrigation efficiency will be
using data provided by the local SCS

Most water is delivered from the reservoir through
the natural creek bed over a distance of several
miles, and then into earthen canals. Because of
this, water losses will be difficult to calculate,
and we will rely on your input for this.

I
I

Regarding available water supply, the storage
capacity of the Rapid Creek Reservoir #1 and .2 is
apparently known; however, a flow measurement device
has not been installed below the outlet works.
Flows released from the reservoir will be estimated,
based upon the length of time the outlet works is
open each season, and the fact that the reservoir
has been normally filled in the spring and emptied
to a certain level in the fall.

,
1

"1

An additional problem in correlating supply with
demand is that the irrigators in the area frequently
use water from a number of different sources, and
the water from the Rapid Creek Reservoir system
provides only a portion of the water used by each
irrigator. Where possible, we will list the other
sources of water and estimate that percentage of
total water needs which are supplied by Rapid Creek
Reservoir Company. Diversion records to individual
irrigators mayor may not be helpful, since the
supply canals apparently receive water from a number
of sources.

Water rights information will be obtained from the
reservoir company.

l
]

A sample of water from the reservoir will be
analyzed for any minerals and trace metals which may
affect irrigation quality.

6. Chaoter ~ ~ ~ Qi Develooment. In this section,
the Preliminary Design for the proposed improvements
will be presented. Preliminary drawings will be
shown where needed. The criteria and standards used
for design will be described, and data from a
preliminary geotechnical evaluation will be
presented. This latter item will require collection
of one or two samples from the embankments and
running an analysis on them for slope stability.

7. ChaDter YL ~ Estimated Costs. A Cost Estimate will
be developed and will be included in this chapter.
Also included will be any future engineering costs
required for Resident Engineering.
4
