This earthen cutoff would <br />extend to bedrock for the entire length of the dam <br />and would control seepag~ through all layers. Th <br />new face of the dam would be on a 3:1 slope and the <br />downstream embankment reinforcement would be the <br />same as Alternate No.1. Again, by complete cutoff <br />below the darn, relief drains will probably not be <br />needed to control uplift pressures. In all alternates <br />given, the freeboard of the reservoir has been increased <br />to 7.5 feet to control wave action and provide ade- <br />quate storm storage to reduce the size of the emer- <br />gency spillway.
