This
will include a more detailed analysis of sizing of project
features and a better layout of civil and structural features
and of mechanical and electrical equipment, including power
conduit, powerhouse, switchyard and other pertinent features as
required. The installed capacity for this arrangement will be
that selected in Task 15.

The preliminary design effort shall be accomplished in
sufficient detail to permit the preparation of a detailed cost
estimate of the proje~t. In carrying out this work task, the
Contractor shall:

a. Based on the results of the initial field investigations
related to site specific investigations, refine
preliminary design criteria of the project layout.

b. Compare different diversion schemes as they may affect
the selected project arrangement.

c. Optimize penstock diameter nased on diversion and power
requirements.

d. Complete field investigations and evaluations to develop
the preliminary design of the dams, spillways and
powerhouse.

e. Select type and layout of mechanical and electrical
equipment and other pertinent features, as required.

f. Develop preliminary design drawings of the project
features in s.ufficient detaIl, together with supporting
information, for inclusion in the study's final report.

Task 13 - Potential Uses of Water

Due to the likelihOOd of Una water costs being relatively
high, it i.s anti'cipated that, in the absence of subsidi.es, the
types of water users most likely to be seriously interested in
contracting for purchase of Una water would be industries and
municipalities. The industri.al water demand of concern is that
of the energy industry, including shale oil development, coal
gasification, thermal power plants, and coal mining.
