Evaluate the geological conditions in the area and the
potential subsurface investigations needed.

b. Assess the suitability of areas for the project
facilities with respect to space, access, topography,
unmapped interference, and potential adverse foundation
problems.

c. Inspect the potential railroad relocation corridor to
assess the need for devoting special attention to
potent ial interface problem areas f.or the railroad
corridor with topography, crainage, geologicl features
and man-made facilities.

Tas~ 5 - Geotechnical Investigation

The purpose of this work task is to determine the
foundation conditions .at the site, to locate potential
construction materials, and to provide a basis for preliminary
design of the dam, appurtenances, and railroad relocation. These
investigations will be conducted to supplement existing data, a~d
shall be sufficiently detailed and complete to provide a
meaningful project arrangement and estimate of project costs.
In carrying out this work tasK, the Contractor shall:

a. Prepare a program of geophys ical and construct ion
materials investigations, which program shall not be
initiated until approved by the State.

b.
