I

I

met by water rights on the Yampa River. The only time water would be drawn

I

from the Elkhead Creek Reservoir for plant usage is during those periods when

the flow of the Yampa fell below the minimum to supply the plant requirements.

I

And then the drawdown from the reservoir would not go below the maximum level

of the presently planned reservoir surface elevation of/'6340 fee~
~~ .

I

Both alternatives add to the overall recreational benefits of the reservoir

I

through increased capacity and surface area. It has been pointed out by

I
I
I

Division of Wildlife personnel that a larger reservoir will inundate surround-

ing meadows and thereby provide for greater fish food production. Additionally,

the increased shoreline will be of benefit to waterfowl. An increased dam

height will also extend the life expectancy of the reservoir because of

prolonged silt loading.

I
I

I

I

I

I

I

I
I

ii

I
