The dead-end mains should be looped. This work should be <br />accomplished, in part, by requiring developers of new areas to <br />install water mains accordingly. <br />8. The desirable quantity of water storage is not the present <br />235,000 gallons but the storage of 522,000 gallons. <br />g. To maintain the Town's eligibility for Federal Aid, water meters <br />be installed on all service connections. <br />10. Those items, having been identified in the study as Phase I <br />construction, have a total project cost of approximately $314,000. <br />11. Depending on the means obtained for financing the project, the <br />cost of providing water to the residents of the Town of Granby <br />will increase at least 36%. <br />12. The indicated charge to the individual property owner for water, <br />with an FmHA grant and loan would be: <br />Without a mill levy - $1.00 per 1000 gallons of water <br />With a 10 mill levy - $0.80 per 1000 gallons of water <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />To insure that adequate and safe water is provided to the residents of <br />the Town of Granby and to achieve compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, <br />Western Technical Services recommends that the Town of Granby: <br />1. Submit this Preliminary Report to the Colorado Department of <br />Health for their approval. <br />2. Request the Insurance Services Office of Colorado to review the <br />fire protection facilities of the Town. <br /> <br />1-5 <br />
