These facilities be designed so that they are above
the flood plain of the Fraser River. In case of an emergency,
the facilities be able to supply at least 700 gpm to the system.
The Solids Contact Unit be covered rather than a building be
constructed over it.
In addition to the above suggested modifications to the treatment
facilities, the overflow from the backwash water pit immediately
east of the Municipal Building be rerouted so that it discharges
at a controlled rate into the Granby Sanitation District sewer
system.
The distribution system be modified to improve the supply of
water under adequate pressure to all parts of the system; mainly
through the construction of a large size transmission main to
the western portion of the Town.
Hydrants should be added in those areas which appear to be deficient
of fire protection.
Based on our review of the new rating schedule, the Town of Granby
should be placed in a class higher than its present rating of 8.
The major deficiencies, in the rating of the Town of Granby as they
'pertain to the water system, are the inability of the system to
meet the apparent required fire flow of 2500 gpm for 2 hours, fire
hydrant spacing in excess of 400 ft., and the distribution system
being unable. to provide adequate water at sufficient pressure for
fire fighting purposes throughout the system.

1-4

3.

4.

5.

6.

\

o
~
~
^
