The City, together with ~lKE, selectetl Alternative No.2, In combination with
the auxll I ary spf1lway solution of Alternative 110. 1. The rehabilitation
solution would Include: raise the dam and dike crests one foot; reduce,
control" and collect dam embankment and foundation seepage; flatten upstream
slope; replace outlet gate and Inlet and outlet structures; re-llne outlet
works conduit with grouted steel liner; provide RCC auxiliary spillway
overflow crest and downstream apron, flatten upstream slope, of auxll lary dike
and overflow section, and control and collect seepage downstream of the
auxiliary spillway. The estimated appraisal-level construction cost,
Including 25 percent contingency, was $500,000.

^ feasibility-level design for rehabilitating Peterson lake Oam was elaborated
based on the alternative selected. Design computations were refined, and
drawings prepared. A construction cost estimate was developed by
recalculating quantities and reviewing unit costs. The estimated construction
cost for rehabilitating Peterson lake Dam, Including a 15 percent contingency,
Is $583,251.

Total project costs were developed by adding the cost of the feasibility study
to the estimated cost for engineering and construction management, all0\11ng
for cost escalation due to Inflation, and computing Interest during project
execution. The total estimated cost to rehabilitate Peterson lake Dam, so
that It can operate to Its full decreed capacity of 1,252 acre-feet of total
storage without restriction, Is $756,312. This amounts to a unit cost per
acre-foot of total storage of $604 and a cost of $749 per acre-foot of firm
annual yield. These unit costs are compared In the fol1o\1lng table \1ith the
estimated total costs to rehabilitate Comanche and Twin lakes Dams.
