Since this water can
only be delivered In the sumner, when CBT facilities are operating, this
source of water Is not comparable, as Peterson lake Dam will allow releases
throughout the year. Another alternative Is to construct Rockwell Dam on the
South Fork of the Cache la Poudre RI ver and trans fer the wa ter rI ghts from
Peterson lake Reservoir. The estimated cost of storage at Rockwell ranges
from $2,636 per acre-foot for a 5,000 acre-feet reservoir to $1,363 per
acre-foot for a 17,000 acre-feet reservoir. These costs do not compare
favorably with $749 per acre-foot for firm annual yield and $604 per
acre-foot of storage obtained by rehabilitating Peterson lake Dam.

Restoring Peterson lake Reservoir to full unrestricted operation would not
only provide a firm dependable water supply to Greeley, but also would
provide carry-over storage to maintain a fishery and Increase recreational
potent Ia I.

50 percent of the project cost could be
construction fund.
