This work is <br />funded in part with a loan from the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board (Board), under a contract dated January 27, 1992 between <br />the District and the Board. The contract was to originally <br />expire on January 27, 1994, and a letter dated December 8, 1993 <br />was submitted to CWCB requesting an extension for an additional <br />year for the reasons stated in that letter. This letter serves <br />as notice that the project will not be completed within the <br />extended contract period, due to continuing circumstances which <br />are outside the control of the District. <br /> <br />The circumstances which originally forced the extension of <br />the construction continue to exist. They are related to the <br />acquisition and placement of riprap for the slope protection <br />against wave erosion action on the upstream face of the dam. The <br />problem of obtaining riprap at a reasonable price was detailed in <br />our previous letter. We have continued to have problems in <br />obtaining sufficient quantities of riprap to complete the slope <br />protection for the dam. It now appears that it will take an <br />additional year to remove the old structures and replace the <br />riprap. <br /> <br />As a consequence of this delay, we request that the CWCB - <br />District project contract be extended to January 1996.
