Since the November 12, 1982 report was issued,
the following have occurred:

o Broomfield has acquired additional water rights which require
a 12,000 acre-foot reservoir to maximize the yield from City
water rights.

o Cost of land acquisition has been revised to reflect present
estimated costs based on preliminary appraisals and recent
land purchase negotiations.

o Probable maximum precipitation estimates have recently been
updated by the National Weather Service and the United States
Bureau of Reclamation.

o Broomfield growth, water demand, and water revenue estimates
have been revised based on recent statistics and annexations.

o Extensive site geotechnical
completed.

o A Preliminary Design report has been' completed which defines
the project configuration in more detail than in the November
12, 1982 report.

investigations have been

The November 12, 1982 Feasibility Report was prepared to specifi-

cally address the issue of inadequate spillway capacity identified in
the Phase I National Dam Safety Report and was therefore 1 imited in
scope. The results of the study indicated that an increase in reser-

voir storage combined with the necessary increase in spillway capacity
was more economically attractive than only increasing spillway capa-
city. Various reservoir sizes were evaluated. A project for enlarge-

ment to 9,000 acre-feet was proposed and 1 ater approved by the CWCB.

-3-

I

Rev-RMC
