Estimates of land acquisition requirements for reservoirs
were based upon the maximum reservoir surface area for each reservoir
size. This value in acres was then multiplied by 1.5 to obtain a more
reasonable approximation of actual land acquisition requirements.

B. Kendig Dam and Reservoir Sites

1. General History

I

The Kendig damsite has been included in most previous project
configurations. Because of this, the dam has been extensively studied
by the USBR. The 1982 planning studies (Ref. 42) included Kendig Dam
and Reservoir. The USBR designs were used as a basis for further work
in this report.

The 1982 planning study included Kendig Dam which was 202 ft.
high. The dam was an earthfill embankment which produced a reservoir
with a total capacity of 18,060 acre-feet. A 72" diameter outlet
works feed the West Divide Canal located immediately downstream. The
dam was located downstream of the existing Highline Canal and upstream
of the existing Porter Ditch.

The USBR estimated the cost of the Kendig !lam and Reservoir
to be $37,800,000 in January 1980 dollars. This estimate is sum-
marized below:
