Using these data a decision <br />will be made whether to proceed further with project planning <br />and if so, the final project configuration will be selected. <br /> <br />The second phase of the study is optional. It will be <br />performed only if the first phase of the study results in the <br />identification of a preferred alternative. In the second <br />phase the selected project system will be evaluated at a <br />feasibility level. <br /> <br />The principal elements of the study to be performed in the two <br />phases consist of: <br /> <br />In Phase 1: <br /> <br /> <br />o Expansion and refinement of the reconnaissance-level <br /> <br /> <br />hydrology, water rights and systems operation <br /> <br /> <br />evaluations made for the rescoping study to confirm <br /> <br /> <br />the water supplies physically and legally available <br /> <br /> <br />to the project. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Evaluation of previous irrigable land surveys in the <br /> <br /> <br />proj ect area; evaluations of cropping patterns and <br /> <br /> <br />the possibilities for modification to enhance higher <br /> <br /> <br />yields, greater monetary returns and/or more <br /> <br /> <br />efficient utilization of water; and optimization <br /> <br /> <br />analyses of the available water supplies, uses and <br /> <br /> <br />system costs. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />A-2 <br />
