Using these data a decision
will be made whether to proceed further with project planning
and if so, the final project configuration will be selected.

The second phase of the study is optional. It will be
performed only if the first phase of the study results in the
identification of a preferred alternative. In the second
phase the selected project system will be evaluated at a
feasibility level.

The principal elements of the study to be performed in the two
phases consist of:

In Phase 1:

o Expansion and refinement of the reconnaissance-level

hydrology, water rights and systems operation

evaluations made for the rescoping study to confirm

the water supplies physically and legally available

to the project.

o

Evaluation of previous irrigable land surveys in the

proj ect area; evaluations of cropping patterns and

the possibilities for modification to enhance higher

yields, greater monetary returns and/or more

efficient utilization of water; and optimization

analyses of the available water supplies, uses and

system costs.

1

A-2
