Also included
will be a thirty foot (30 ft,) pneumatic crest gate in the dam and in the headgate structure
to the Harmony No, 1 Ditch, The dam will <llso have an eight foot (8 ft,) wide radial gate to
sluice sand past the structure, Head walls and wing walls at each end of the dam will
complete the structure, Preliminary site pl,m drawings, and cross-section of the proposed
structure are included in Appendix 8, Sines alternative 1) was not approved by the District,
there are no funds available for the replacement of the West Diversion Dam structure
which was damaged in flooding last year. The district plans to construct a sand dam to
control the flow of water in the south channel. The elevation of the sand dam will be set so
that it will divert water flow into the north channel under normal river conditions. During
flooding or high flow conditions the sand dam will allow for flow through the south channel
to prevent inundation of the new diversion structure and headgate,

6
