Task g - Dam Type Evaluation and Cost Estimates - After the dam sites have been selected, and the foundation and materials investigation programs completed, the Contractor shall conduct an evaluation of the types of dams that would be suitable. Appraisal level cost estimates shall be prepared for competitive types. Cost estimates shall be prepared at each site for three to four sizes of dams within the range of 50,000 to 300,000 acre-feet of storage, unless there is found to be some upper size limitation due to geologic conditions. Where more than one dam type is possible, costs for each type shall be prepared. The results of the foundation exploration shall be utilized to estimate the required foundation treatment at each site, including estimated excavation volumes, grouting, and drainage systems. The results of the construction materials investigations relating to materials strengths, location, and volume shall be used in preparing the cost estimates. Costs shall be to mid-19S5 cost levels and shall include rights-of-way and land acquisition. The cost estimates shall also reflect cost components including outlets and spillways.
