This estimate
was made by the Blaney-Criddle method for the type of crops that would be
grown in the project area and for the climatic conditions projected for the
area from data for the nearby communities of Vernal, Jensen, and Bonanza,
Utah. The irrigation season was estimated to extend from early May through
September. The average frost-free period was estimated to be from early
June through Septembero

Net consumpti~e use of irrigation water was estimated to average 1.66
acre-feet per acre after allowance was made for effective preCipitation
during the irrigation season. Average farm delivery requirements for irri-
gation water were estimated to average 3.32 acre-feet per acre with an aver-
age farm application efficiency of 50 percent. With allowance of 10 per-
cent made for canal, lateral, and distribution losses, the requirement 'for
irrigation water at turnouts from main canals was estimated to average
3069 acre-feet per acre. The estimated per acre requirements are shown
below 0

Month
May
June
July
August
September
Total

Average per acre monthly irrigation requirements
at turnouts from main canal~
(Units--acre-feet per acre)
Consumptive use
Percent
of irri-
gation
season
total
906
2405
27.1
25.0
13.8
10000

Require-
ment at
,turnouts
from main
canals
0.31
.93
1.07
.93
.45
3.69

Effect-
tiv~
precipi~
tation
0,04
.04
003
005
.06
.22

Net con-
sumptive
use of
irrigo
water
0.14
.42
048
.42
020
1.66

Farm
deli;very ,
require-
ment
0.28
.84
.96
.84
.40
3.32

Aco-fto
0018
.46
.51
047
026
1.81J

33
