Storaqe
As mentioned above, the existing 85,000 gallon concrete
reservoir will require repair of leaks. Based on a pre-
vious inspection performed on the tank, repairs of the
leaks was estimated to be approximatelY $3,500.

No other modifications or improvements are required to
the other storage facility or related lines, structures
or equipment.

C. Distribution System
It is recommended that all distribution lines smaller
than 6 inch be replaced with 6 inch ?VC, Class 160 pipe
and that all existing fire hydrants be connected to the
larger diameter lines.

In addition, approximatelY 5 new fire hydrants will be
installed along the proposed 6 inch main construction
under Phase I. Due to the condition of the old small
diameter lines, it is the intent to abandon these lines
after the new paralleling lines are installed. All
existing house service taps will then have to be tapped
and re-connected to the new mains.

Due to the limitation of available funding, the Town in-
tends to replace the water distribution system in various
phases. Phase I, which is addressed in this report, will
include the installation of a 6 inch main in Baker, a 6
inch maln ln Railroad Street between Boone and Baker, a 6
inch main in North Street and a 6 inch line in Gerrard
Avenue. These proposed mains would be connected to the
existing 8 and 6 inch mains as well as the existing small
diameter mains until these smaller mains can be replaced.
The larger diameter mains will alleviate the present pres-
sure problems and provide for reliability of fire protection.
Phase II (future construction) will consist of the remaining
mains shown on Exhibit B.

-7-
