<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Population Projections <br /> <br />Population projections that have been made for Western Colorado are al- <br />most invariably related to the growth and development of the energy industry. <br />Population projections by the Regional Planning Staff of Routt County are given in <br />the general land use plan for Routt County adopted in 1973 and are considered to <br />be quite low in view of energy development since that time. <br />Therefore, any discussion of population projections must begin with a <br />discussion of the over-all energy picture. This section will deal first with <br />some aspects of the National energy picture as derived by recent studies and statis- <br />tical data. Secondly, it will investigate energy growth and development within <br />the State of Colorado and then specifically with the coal development in Routt <br />County which is classified as being in the Green River Region for fuel production. <br />These energy development projections will be used as a basis of population projec- <br />tions for the Town of Hayden up to the year 1996. <br />The Federal Power Commission has compiled data concerning electrical energy <br />consumption in the years 1965 - 1975, as shown in Table 7 below. <br /> <br /> TABLE 7 <br /> Total Kilowatt Population Kil owatt Hours Aver.'
