Inspection of the cast
iron pipe during the more recent construction has shown that the pipe is
generally in excellent condition after many years of service. Only minor
leakage problems have been identified. The current distribution system,
which has been mapped by the Town, also consists of water meters for all
the users.
The existing deep well was constructed in 1973-1974 for the purpose of
obtaining a sufficient supply of the low nitrate water to solve the water
quality problem that exists. However, the well has not been able to supply
enough water (12-13 gpm currently) to meet the town's needs. It appears
that the yield of the well is in the common range for deep wells constructed
into the Laramie/Fox Hills formation in the general Nunn area (i.e., Spring
Creek and Lone Tree Creek drainages).
The study consisted of an investigation of the water quality problem
of the existing wells and the determination of various alternatives for
providing a solution to the nitrate problem. An analysis of the existin'j
distribution system including storage requirements has been made. Recommen-
dations were made for improvements to the distribution system and for
additional storage. Also, the recommended alternative for correcting the
nitrate problem has been presented. A preliminary design of the recommended
improvements as well as a detailed cost estimate for those improvements has
been included in this study. This final feasibility report presents a
narrative description of the results of the study. The various drawings
setting forth some of the concepts and details are included in the appendix.

2
