Th," addition of a disinfectant and
minimal treatment is norr, dlly provided for domestic supplies.
The nearest major domestic water supply system supplying CST
water is the Central Held County l'later District (CliCHD). The
CWCWD serves the rural areas extending south and east of Greeley,
to the tri-town area of Firestone, Frederick, and Dacono. The
District currently services the communities of Mill iken, Kersey,
Firestone, and Dacono. Exhibit V-l shows the general location of
the CWCWD service area.

The CST source of water service in the CWCWD system is attractive
because of the good quality of water. This supply could be the only
water served in the Town or it may be economical to consider
mixing with the existing well water to obtain water which would
meet minimum health standards. Two major deterents for the
supply system by the CWCWD is the distance from the Town from
the District's facilities which would require a large expenditure
of funds for transmission mains to the Town, and the difficulty
of inclusion of the Town within the boundaries of the NCt,ICD service

area.

Two possible locations to connect with the CWCWD system were
determined to be at the CWCWD Storage Tank No. 2 located approx-
imately 13 miles north of Hudson or at the CWCWD Storage Tank No.
3 approximately 13 miles west of Hudson. This second location
would allow possible joint participation with the community of
Fort Lupton.

These alternates are shown in Exhibit V-2. A booster pumping
facility would be required in order to transmit the water at
adequate pressures to Hudson from the District. The most
desirable alternate would be from the CWCWD Tank No.3 since this
is at a higher elevation than Tank No.2 and has more transmission
main capacity to the storage. Preliminary cost estimates for
obtaining water from either CWCWD Tank No. 2 or 3 are very sub-
stantial and do not appear feasible for the Town to consider at
this time. As the Town grows and with participation with other
major users, this may become a source which can be used.

v - 3
