Hudson is not
within the Conservancy District boundary. Because CWCviD uses CBT
water as a source of supply, it is limited to the boundaries of the
NCWCD. The NCWCD Board has been very firm in its policy for not
extending its boundaries.

However, there have been recent activities which may allow alternate
considerations. One of these is that the "Six Cities" project or
"Windy Gap" project will bring additional transmountain water through
facilities.of the NCWCD. It may be that this water can be delivered
outside the present Conservancy District boundaries and therefore
by exchange or other alternates it may be possible at some future
date to supply this source of water to the Town of Hudson.

It appears that this alternate is not available at this time, since
it must first be determined whether or not water can be transmitted
outside the Conservancy District boundaries. This alternate may
become available in the future and should be further considered
at that time.

Local Surface Water Sources:

Consideration has been given to obt~ining a supplemental water
supply source from surface waters in the nearby vicinity. There
is a limited amount of surface water available from reservoirs
and/or irrigation ditches in the area. In evaluating this possible
source of water for domestic potable water use, several disadvantages
become apparent. The use of these surface waters is discussed in
the following paragraphs.

The number and size of the reservoirs and irrigation ditches in the
area are limited. Available water rights owned by the reservoir and
ditch companies are also limited, and the water rights are generally
of low priority. The low priority of the available water rights is
a serious problem, because during periods of long-term drought
senior water right holders can use up the available water first.
Therefore, this would not be a reliable source on a continuous
basis without major storage facilities.
