However, in addition to being
remote and costly, these water supplies are not available at
this time due to established water district boundaries and/or
other service restrictions.

Although the existing shallow well system now serving the Town
has or can have adequate water quantity, the water quality is
extremely poor and the cost for treating the water so that it
will meet minimum recommended guidelines for good domestic water
is relatively high. Therefore, several alternates are considered
and discussed herein.

Outside Sources of Water:

Due to the general unavailability of a good quality water in the
nearby area of Hudson, outside sources have been considered. Two
major water sources which serve many domestic users in the nearby
areas are the transmountain waters delivered through the facilities
of the Denver Water Board and the Colorado-Big Thompson project
water (CBT) delivered through the facilities of the Northern
Colorado ~Jater Conservancy District (NCWCD). In revielving the
physical location of the transmission systems and service areas
for these sources of water, it appears that the CBT water would
be the most logical source to pursue. Therefore investigations
for an outside source has been first given to obtaining CBT
water, rather than investigating in detail a water source from
the Denver Water Board system.

Colorado-Big Thompson project water is transmountain water of
excellent quality for domestic water use. It is soft water
normally of 2 to 3 grains hardness when delivered from project
facilities at Carter Lake or Horsetooth Reservoir. It can meet
the minimum standards of the Colorado Health Department with a
V - 2
