PHYSICAL PLAN

The Town of Hudson's domestic water supply system has need for
improvement in all of its major facilities. This includes supply,
treatment, distribution, and storage. Of these major components to
the system, the distribution and the storage facilities can be most
readily evaluated and methods for improvements determined. When
evaluating the supply and treatment of the water, it is more difficult
to determine the most acceptable, practical, and cost effective method
for the needed improvements. This is due to the lack of an available
good raw water source of supply in the area. It is also due to the
lack of practical and/or economical methods of treatment which are
available for improving existing water supplies to meet minimum
standards.

The primary components of the water system and consideration for
improvement of each are described in the following paragraphs. The
water supply and treatment are discussed jointly because of the
necessity for treatment by an economical means of many of the sources
of supply considered.

1. Source of Supply and Treatment

General: Water supply is now taken from shallow wells. In
addition to the existing wells, several other alternates were
considered as a source of supply for the Town of Hudson.
Generally speaking, there are no reliable water supply sources
available in the nearby area which meet minimum Department of
Health standards or which can be inexpensively treated to meet
the minimum health standards. A deep well water supply is used

V - I
