\.

ce

Section III Present Water System: A map and description of the present system
including distribution, storage, treatment, and raw water source
will be prepared. The description will include the capacities and
sizes of the various components and an assessment of their general
condition.
Project Engineer 40 Hrs.
Drafting 24 Hrs.

Section IV Water Needs - Present and Future: This section will contain a
tabulation of historic per capita water use in terms of annual
average, daily average, peak day, and peak hourly rates for the
present users of the system as can be determined from the existing
data. Where flow measurements are not available, this data will be
developed, based on our experience with similar communities in
Western Colorado.

The future water needs of the Town of Fruita will be developed by
applying these rates to future population estimates. Data for the
future population estimates will be sought from the Town of Fruita,
Mesa County Planning and Development Department, Colorado West Area
Council of Governments and other sources as may be appropriate.

An assessment of the water quality of the four alternative sources
will be determined by review of existing available data and by
conducting analysis of additional water samples as required for Ph
manganese, nitrate, sulfate, hardness, chloride, and total dissolved
solids.

A tabulation of existing Fruita water rights will be included with
an engineering judgement of the safe probable yield of those water
rights. An investigation of the, watershed and a determination of
and estimated total watershed yield will be included. The objective
of this effort is to determine if the present watershed now, or in
the future, can be improved to provide the projected water quality
requirements.
. Project Engineer
Secretary
Laboratory Analysis

40 Ht's.
24 Ht's.
$500.00

Section V

Develop Alternatives: This section will define the scope and extent
of the four alternatives previ ous1y menti oned. A pre 1 imi nary
layout of each plan will be prepared and equipment will be sized
for the purposes of learning construction conditions; preparing
construction, operating, and maintenance cost estimates; and
evaluating the necessary institutional arrangements. The alternatives
to be investigated include continued operation of the present system
with its long gravity flow raw ~Iater line to the treatment plant.
Particular emphasis will be givEm to the needs and costs of
maintaining that line in reasonable repair, adequacy of line size for
the projected future needs, and the potential capability of the
existing raw water storage and ~Iatershed to satisfy future needs.
An evaluation of the conditions of the existing reservoirs will be
done in this section including such factors as the location of the
flow line under Gobbo Reservoir, litigation of water rights at
