These soils are moderately deep and well drained. They formed <br /> <br />1n calcareous, eolian and reworked eolian IlI3terial derived dominantly from <br /> <br />..dimentary rocks. The surface layer is loam. The subsoil is clay loam and <br /> <br />loam. Below this to a depth of 20 to 40 inches the soils are loams. <br /> <br />Weathered shale or sandstone is at a depth of 20 to 40 inches. <br /> <br />Of minor extent in this unit are deep Romberg, Collbran, Collbran <br /> <br />Variant, and Ackmen soils, shallow cragola and Srjme soils, moderately deep <br /> <br />PJJJ.pit soils, and Rock outcrop. <br /> <br />Host areas of this unit are used for cropla:1d, pasture, and livestock <br /> <br />grazing. A few areas are used for homesite development and wood production. <br /> <br />Wildlife suited to native areas of tnis unit are mule deer, cottontail <br /> <br />rabbits, and mourning doves.
