Slape is 0 to 12 <br /> <br /> <br />percent. The vegetation on this unit is mainly shrubs" grasses, and forbs <br /> <br /> <br />with some areas of pinyon and juniper. Elevation is 5,400 to 7,400 feet. <br /> <br />The average annual precipitation is about 11 to 15 inches, the average <br />annual air temperature is 47 to 52 degrees F., and the, average frost-free <br />'i <br />..eason . is 100 to 135 days. I <br /> <br />This unJ.t makes up about 30 percent of the survey area. .It is about 35 <br /> <br />percent Witt and similar soils, 30 percent Gladel and similar soils, and 20 <br />percent Sharps and similar soils. Thf' remaining 15 percent is components of <br /> <br />minor extent, <br /> <br />Vitt and similar soils are on rre:;a tops, hillsides, and uplands. These <br /> <br /> <br />soils are deep and well drained. Thel} formed in caLcareous, e"lian and <br /> <br /> <br />reworked eolian material derived domitlantly from sedimentary r()Cks. The <br /> <br /> <br />SlJrface layer is loam. The subsoil is silty clay loam and clay loam. . Below <br /> <br /> <br />this to a depth of 60 inches ths soilS are loam. <br /> <br /> <br />Gladel and similar soils are on the edges of mesa tops, uplands, <br /> <br /> <br />hillsides, and ridges. These soils are shallow and well to so~what <br /> <br /> <br />excessively drained. They formed in calcareous, alluvium and reliorked <br /> <br /> <br />eolian material derived dominantly from sedimentary rocks. The soils are <br /> <br /> <br />cobbly fine sandy loam throughout.
