It is mainly on uplands, drainageways and hillsides. Slope is 0 to <br /> <br />12 percent. The vegetation on this unit is mainly shrubs, grasses and forbs <br /> <br />with scattered pinyon and ponderosa pine. Elevation is 7,100 to 8,500 feet. <br /> <br />The average annual precipitation is about 15 to 20 inches, the average <br /> <br />annual air temperature is 43 to 47 degrees F, and the average frost-free <br /> <br />season is 75 to 120 days. <br /> <br />This unit makes up about 10 percent of the survey area. It is about 35 <br /> <br />percent Acree and similar soils, 30 percent Ormiston and similar soils and <br /> <br />20 percent Hortez and similar soils. The remaining 15 percent is components <br />i <br /> <br />of minor extent. <br /> <br />Acree and similar soils are on uplands, drainageways and hillsides. <br /> <br />These soils are deep and well drained. They formed in calcareous, eolian <br /> <br />an<r reworked eolian material derived dominantly from sedimentary rocks. The <br /> <br />surface layer is loam. The subsoil is clay loam. Below this to a depth of <br /> <br />40 to 60 inches the soils are loam. Unweathered sandstone is at a depth of <br /> <br />40 to 60 inches. <br /> <br />Ormiston and similar soils are pn uplands and hillsides. These soils <br /> <br />are deep and well drained. They for/lled in calcareous, colluvium and <br /> <br />reworked eolian material derived dominantly from sedimentary rocks. The <br /> <br />surface layer is extremely stony loa!ll and very stony clay loam. The subsoil <br /> <br />is very stony and stony clay loam. J3e10w this to a depth of 40 to 60 inches <br /> <br />-the soils are stony clay loam. Unwe8.thered sandstone is at a depth of 40 to <br /> <br />60 inches. <br /> <br />A-9 <br />
