The design is to incorporate challenging boating
conditions for the boater with basic skills that will provide interest and
enjoyment in its use. A properly designed chute will attract a wide range
of users from recreational enthusiasts to competitive kayak racers.

A substantial investment will be made in the by-pass. It should benefit as
Large a segment of the public as practical.

o Design the boat chute to offer "action" but navigable by a novice
in a canoe or kayak through a wide range of flows.

o Consider the installation of removable obstructions for training
and advanced competition.

o Design for easy recovery in the event of boaters dumping in the
chute.

FISH HABITAT IMPROVEMENT
The objective is to create an environment which enhances the fish habitat
as well as the boating potential. The criteria to achieve this are as
follows:

o A maximum single drop of approximately two feet which . will enable
the fish and aquatic life to migrate upstream through the chute.

o Create pools approximately four feet deep to provide for fish
cover during periods of low flow.
