SUITABILITY FOR A FULL RANGE OF RECREATIONAL BOATING USES Provide a boat chute which accommodates a variety of boating uses. The chute will be designed for the typical craft that would be found on the South Platte River .in Denver. This would include such craft as rafts, kayaks, canoes and similar white water craft. It does not include tubers, swimmers or any craft with minimal flotation. The hydraulic conditions found in the chute will require a basic skill level for navigation. ECONOMICAL OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE AND COSTS The boat chute operation and maintenance cannot be a financial burden on the designated agency or agencies. The planning and design of the boat chute will be tailored to cost-effective operation and maintenance requirements consistent with the selected plan of construction and level of service and benefits selected. OPPORTUNITIES FOR AREA ECONOMIC ENHANCEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT The boat chute. within reason, should promote the enhancement and economic development of the area. The boat chute may be a unique attraction. It could draw local recreationists as well as competitors and spectators for major events. The boat chute and expanded Centennial Park could be a focal point for new quality mixed development in an area which is now underutilized. o Provide a complements quality facility in an the Platte River Greenway attractive setting which and Centennial Park. o Local planning entities may promote suitable development of adjacent properties.
