Rifle Village South 1s presently the only approved subdivision in
the project area. The platted subdivision contains approximately
200 lots, most of which are between 6,500 and 10,000 square feet
in area. About 36 houses have been built in the subdivision to
date, and these have been erected on double lots. Residences in
this subdivision are presently served by the Rifle Village South
Metropolitan District which provides domestic water and sanitation
service to ~he subdivision by means of central systems, The sources
of water for the existing Metro water system are springs and wells,
The Metro District has its own wastewater treatment plant and
collection system.

The City of Rifle has been approached by the Metro District for a
supply of municipal water. These negotiations have been unsuccessful
so the Metro District has been seeking other sources. By letters of
September 15, 1978, and April 22, 1980, to the West Divide Water Con-
servancy District the Rifle Village South Metropolitan District re-
quested commencement of negotiations for a supply of municipal waters
from the West Divide Project.

The only other development in the project area for which plans have
been made public is the proposed Southside Center, The Southside
Center is a commercial Planned Unit Development (P. U. D.) to be
located in the southeast quadrant of the Interstate 70-Rifle inter-
change, It will be bounded on the north and west by the 1-70 right-
of-way and on the south by South Seventh Street (County Road No. 346).

As described in the P. U. D. application~ present plans for the
Southside Center include a 300 unit motel, a gasoline station, two
