Harper Lake Alternate I - Expansion of Harper Lake to a capacity of 704
acre-feet basically as proposed as Alternate D in the Rocky Mountain Consultants,
Inc. report of 1981.
4. Harper Lake Alternate II - Modification of the design shown in Alternate I
to accommodate a 715 acre-foot reservoir at Harper Lake.
5. Harper Lake Alternate III - Construction of a 280 acre-foot reservoir immediately
west of the Louisville Lateral and east of 80th Street.
6. Harper Lake Alternate IV - A two reservoir complex at Harper Lake consisting
of combined Alternate I and Alternate III with a total storage capacity of 984
acre-feet.
7. Eldorado Springs Alternate - Construction of an 800 acre-foot reservoir
on South Boulder Creek approximately 0.4 miles west of Eldorado Springs, Colorado.
A brief description of each of the alternates is given below:
1. Louisville Reservoir Expansion - This alternate would involve
constructing an impervious upstream earth cutoff key on the existing embankment
which would penetrate bedrock at the upstream toe reducing seepage under the
embankment. The impervious material would be extended up the upstream face to
form an impervious blanket reducing seepage through the embankment, as shown
in Figure 4.
Additional material would have to be added to the existing embankment to
reduce the side slopes from approximately 1:1 to 2.5:1 for greater stability.
With the addition of embankment material, the crest width will be increased to
15 feet to accommodate service and maintenance vehicles, and will be raised to
an elevation of 5600 feet to provide a full 5 feet of freeboard when the reservoir
is filled to elevation 5595.

30
