COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
FEBRUARY 21, 1989

We are willing to proceed as quickly as possible by retaining
another engineering firm and continuing with design of the
p~oject. Our ability to continue depends upon cweB being agree-
able to amending the Contract for performing the feasibility
study. The amendment must be to increase the cost of the
feasibility work to $19,600 per our discussion on July 20. 1988.

In addition to increasing the cost of the feasibility report con-
tract. we would like to remind eWCB that. although the scope of
the project has not changed. we do plan to amend the proposed
repair. This amendment will be to change the location of the
control valve. At this time, we plan to abandon the concrete
tower. A new valve will be installed in the existing conduit at
a location approximately 420 feet from the outlet end. This
location will permit operation of the valve from the shore.
eliminate the tower and eliminate a walkway to the tower. There
is no change in the proposal for repairing the pipe. The State
Engineer. Montrose office, has been advised. and has verbally ap-
proved the change.

Please advise us as to the status of the contract between CWCS
and Fruitland. Is that contract now being prepared? If not.
what specifics are required for us to expedite completion of the
contract? You should be aware that we will have to revise the
estimated cost of the project due to the time span since prepara-
tion of former estimates and probable increase in material costs.

Your prompt attention to this matter will be appreciated.

1%-~~/~L
Norber~~ck~~~'
President
D:HD Gould
Wa1ker.221
cc: ewes, Grand Junction
Margie Masson
UTE Engineering

5
