Requiring that uses vulnerable to floods, including facilities <br />which serve such uses, be protected against flood damage at <br />the time of initial construction. <br /> <br />d. Controlling the alteration of natural floodplains, stream <br />channels, and natural protective barriers, which help <br />aCCOll1llKldate or channel floodwaters. <br /> <br />e. Preventing or regulating the construction of flood barriers <br />which will unnaturally divert flood waters or which may <br />increase flood hazards in other areas. <br /> <br />Section 5. Il<>finitions. For the purpose of these regulations, <br />certain terms and words are defined and shall have the meanings ascribed to <br />them herein unless othelWise IlIOre s~ifically defined or it is app:lrent <br />fran the context that a different meaning is intended. Unless specifically <br />defined helCM, words or Itlrases used in this ordinance shall be interpreted <br />, so as to give them the meaning they have in COIlUOOn usage and to give this <br />ordinance its IlIOSt reasonable application. <br /> <br />kCPRsory Use or Stmctnre - A use of or structure on a site that is <br />directly related to but secondary to the principal use(s) of or stnicture(s) <br />on the site. <br /> <br />J\dmini strator - The local administrative official appointed by the Town <br />Board of Trustees, responsible for administering and implementing these <br />regulations as set forth in Section 8. The Town Board of Trustees may elect <br />not to appoint an l\dministrator, and in,its place the Town Board itself <br />shall act as the Administrator with assistance fran the Town Clerk. <br /> <br />l\ppeal - A formal request for a review of the Floodplain Administrator I s <br />interpretation of this ordinance. <br /> <br />J\pplicant - Any individual, p:lrtnership, corporation, association, <br />canpany, or public body, including the federal government, or any political <br />subdivision, agency, corporation, or instrumentality of the state of <br />Colorado applying for a floodplain developnent permit pursuant to these <br />regulations. <br /> <br />Area of Shallow Flooding - Areas designated lID or All Zone on the Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). The base flood depths range from one to three <br />feet; a clearly defined channel does not exist; and the p:lth of flooding is <br />unpredictable and indeterminate, as well as the velocity flCM. <br /> <br />Area of S,pecial Fl ClOd Hazards - The land in a floodplain subject to a <br />one percent (l%) chance or greater of flooding in ay given year; and, those <br />Zones on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) designated as lID, Al, A2, A3, <br />M, A6, or any munbered or unnmnbered A Zone, as well as any designated <br />floodway within the floodplain. <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />J <br />
