Description of the Proposed Project

The alternative selected to be the Proposed Project is the Partial Detention Alternative
(Alternative 2). Under this alternative, seven small detention ponds would be created by
constructing low height dams across seven (7) openings in the eastern hogback. The largest of
the seven proposed ponds, Detention Basin No.1, is an existing structure constructed in 1995.
During storm events, ponding behind these dams would remove a majority of the sediment load
from storm flows and reduce peak flow rates by approximately 50 percent.
