The Empire siren has been removed. Silver Plume does not have one.

The siren project is to upgrade the current siren in Idaho Springs to be dual tone capable.
In Georgetown, repair the interface, upgrade for dual toning and reconnect the siren to
communications, so that it can be activated at the time of an emergency event.

In Empire there is a need for a new siren or a rebuilt siren. The Fire Authority has a
couple of sirens that is believed could be rebuilt to upgrade and interface. New
components are needed to reconnect to communications. Total estimated siren upgrade
cost $8,000.

38. Reverse 911
Due to the demographics of Clear Creek County, Reverse 911 appears to be one solution
for early emergency warning. Statistics show a 79% effectiveness. It will enable
communications to warn a designated area immediately. For the type of development in
Clear Creek County there isn't any other way to effectively warn residents of an emergency
event.
Total cost estimate $30,000.

3C. Emergency Alert System. EAS
The masses that travel through Clear Creek County would be unaware if a disaster were
occurring or needed to be warned of one nearby. The EAS was awarded to Clear Creek
County by Colorado Office of Emergency Management in 1998. It would be the resource
to notify the masses during travel by radio. To make the EAS compatible with the county's
communications center, additional components are needed. There are also other linkage
components needed at the radio station site to be able to transmit. EAS is capable to
transmit directly to local cable channels, if the local channel also has the correct linkage
equipment. To maximize early warning capability, this system must be effectively installed.
Total estimate cost $2,000.

3D. Call Boxes
There has been discussion about the need for call boxes throughout 1-70 Corridor in Clear
Creek County, especially from Georgetown to the Eisenhower tunnel. The high
occurrence of stranded travelers would be greatly served and response time quickened.
C-DOT and F-DOT has planned for more call boxes as a part of their 1-70 plan.

23
