Bc. Benefits
The Bear Trak Fire of '98 created a public awareness long overdue for Clear Creek
County. It was feared to become a 'Buffalo Creek' firelflood incident. The potential risk
was enormous. Implementing the above four projects would reduce panic, induce an
overall feeling of better protection and produce a more effective mechanism of control over
building practices in the county. Previously implemented could have saved $1.4 million.

Bd. Costs Total Project Estimate
1. Master Planning (for fire protection only)
2. It will relate to the planning department's development of "Master Plan '99".
It will be needed in identifying possible water contamination sources and prospective
development sites. The maps will also be used to better identify geological hazards facing
the county and provide for hazard overlay in GIS.

The Mineral Impact Grant awarded the county mapping department $70,000 for aerial
mapping. It will be conducted of the 1-70 corridor from the eastern county line to
Bakerville, extending 4 miles north and south of 1-70. The total project cost is $107,000.

20
