<br /> <br />The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and <br />the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) <br />have been partners in flood hazard reduction since <br />FEMA's establishment. The CWCB has been in the <br />business of flood control and floodplain management <br />since the agency's creation by statute in 1937, Together <br />the two agencies strive to serve and assist the citizens of <br />Colorado who are vulnerable to floods and their <br />devastating impacts, The following list of FEMA-funded <br />programs and initiatives demonstrates each agency's <br /> <br /> <br />Community Assistance <br />Program <br />The NFIP's Community <br />Assistance Program (CAP) major <br />objective is to ensure U1at <br />communities participating in the <br />Program are achieving flood loss <br />reduction goals. To achieve this <br />objective, the CAP is designed to <br />provide needed floodplain <br />management assistance services to <br />NFIP communities, The CAP <br />services help to identify, prevent and <br />resolve floodplain management <br />issues before they develop into <br />problems requiring enforcement <br />actions, The program is administered <br />and delivered by 1he CWCB, <br /> <br />continuing commitment 10 reducing flood risk statewide, <br />Community Assistance Program (CAP) <br />Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) <br />Flood Mitigation Assistance Program <br />(FMAP) <br />Project Impact (PI) <br />Map Modernization Program <br /> <br />Flood Mitigation <br />Assistance Program <br />The Flood Mitigation Assistance <br />Program (FMAP) provides: <br /> <br />. project funds 10 implement <br />measures to reduce flood <br />losses, and <br /> <br />. planning funds for developing <br />or updating local flood hazard <br />mitigation plans, <br /> <br />Fund amounts represent the 75% <br />federal share, Interested entities <br />must provide a 25% match, One-half <br />of the 25% (121/2 %) mus1 be cash. <br />The other half may be in-kind, Any <br />city, town or county that participates <br />in good standing in the National <br />Flood Insurance Program (NFlP) is <br />eligible to compete for these funds, <br /> <br />Examples of eligible projects <br />include: <br />. elevation of insured structures, <br />. acquisition of insured structures <br />and real property, <br /> <br />. relocation or demolition of <br />insured structures, <br />. dry floodproofing of insured <br />structures, <br />. minor, localized structural <br />projects that are not fundable by <br />State or other Federal <br />programs, and <br />. other activities that bring an <br />insured structure into <br />compliance with floodplain <br />management requirements in <br />44 CFR 603 (NFlP Regulations), <br />The program is administered and <br />delivered by the CWCB, <br /> <br />Hazard Mitigation Grant <br />Program <br />The Hazard Mitigation Grant <br />Program (HMGP) provides financial <br />assistance to states, local <br />governments and non-profit <br />organizations following Presidential <br />Disaster Declarations, Fifteen <br /> <br />
