Bulk mix plant backfill on-site. Do not mix plant backfill per <br />individual planting pit. <br /> <br />S. Setting Plants <br /> <br />1. Unless otherwise specified, all plants shall be planted in pits to <br />such a depth that the finished grade level at the plant after <br />settlement will be the same as that at which the plant was grown. <br />They shall be planted upright. No burlap shall be pulled out from <br />under balls. All wire and surplus bindin9 shall be removed from <br />the rootball. When the hole is rearly filled, the soil mix shall <br />be puddled with water to eliminate air pickets as necessary and <br />allow it to soak away. After thE' ground settles, additional soil <br />shall be filled in to the level of the finished subgrade. <br /> <br />2. All large manufactured wire "baskE'ts" on trees will be cut away and <br />removed from tree ball with ad,~quate wire cutters after tree is <br />placed and stabilized in plant pit. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Shrubs in tube packs: Remove plants <br />roots carefully and place in hol". <br />from shrub beds and water. <br /> <br />from container and spread out <br />Sack fill with prepared soil <br /> <br />4, Build tree wells for all 5 gallon trees to hold 20 gallons of water <br />minimum. <br /> <br />3 .02 CATTAILS (Nursery Grown) <br /> <br />A. See drawings for spacing and depth of planting. <br /> <br /> <br />B. Separate soil with shovel to create a slit, pack roots into slit and <br /> <br />cover. <br /> <br />3.03 VlILLOW CUTTINGS (NURSERY GROWN) <br /> <br />A. Plant in locations, spacing shown on drawings. <br /> <br />B. Plant cuttings in native topsoil. Cover roots, eliminatin9 air pockets. <br /> <br />C. Water plant immediately after planting. <br /> <br />3.04 MULCHING <br /> <br />Tree saucers and shrub beds shall be seeded with the specified grasses and <br />mulched with hay. See section 900 Seeding and Erosion Control Netting. <br />
