These include: <br /> <br />o Flood hydrology and low flow hydrology <br />o Hydraulic characteristics of channel <br />o Flood problems <br />o Water rights <br />o Water quality <br />o Mineral resources <br />o Geomorphology and sedimentation <br />o Groundwater <br />o Parks, recreation, and boating needs <br />o River flow control <br />o Sewage effluent discharges <br />o Aesthetics and appearance <br />o Wildlife and aquatic life <br /> <br />River Management <br />In effect, the South Platte River master plan is to be a long-term road map <br />for the South Platte River. It is to provide information to understand the <br />problems of the river and to assist in managing and operating the South <br />Platte River from Chatfield Reservoir to Brighton at Baseline Road. <br /> <br />STUDY REACHES <br />The South Platte River study area was divided into eight reaches for analy- <br />sis of where problems and solutions tended to have common characteristics. <br />These study reaches are as follows: <br /> <br />River Flow <br />It was realized early during the course of the study that most of the time <br />there would not be enough water flowing in the river to satisfy all of the <br />uses.
