Method of kit exchange.

.

Counties are visited prior to kit exchanges to determine changes in
I{it requirements, to review status of RADEF training and numbers of
trained personnel, and encourage up-grading of the County RADEF
program. When county Hazard Identification/Capability Assessments
are completed and IJOCal Emergency Operations Plans are formalized,
kit requirements will be incorporated into the appropriate
Radiological 'Protection Program port1on of the plan. Incidental
tasks for other DODES staff are performed to maximize vehicle fuel
and time usage. Following the processing of the gathered
information, kits are assembled in the 'State Shop, Ki ts are
transported using a van capable of carrying a mixed load of 100 to
150 radiological detection kits. Weather and road conditions in
Colorado can cause problems in meeting exchange schedules. Use of a
4-I~lcel drive would improve the probability of achieving year-round.
delivery on a planned basis.

b.
