.

Classification of Basin/Flood Plain St.atus (Continued)

Classification

Uescription

c

Moderate Uevelopment - Includes basins that have
undergone partial development and which have been
evaluated as having a moderate to low probability
of futurc devclopment. Basins in which the
development level is rclatively low but which
include specific idcntifiable problems are also
included in t.his category.

D

Minimum Development - Basins that are essentially
vacant, scat.tered rural, or agricultural usage
and do not lie in the immediate path of urbaniza-
tion or do not appear suitable for urban development
are included in this classification.

(11) Development - The general nature of the current development within
the basin.

.

(12) Boundaries - Information relating to the physical boundaries of
the drainage basin, particularly where boundaries are det.ermined by
artificial features or significant natural features.

(13) Features - Significant features wi thin the basin affecting the
Urban Drainage System.

(14) Problems - Any known or identified urban drainage problems.

(15) Channel Status - Where a natural channel forms one of the boundaries
of the basin, such as direct flow areas tribut.ary to a major stream of
creek, the channel status refers to the major channel. Major drainage
channels for each subbasin have been classified using this alphabetic
classification:

Classification of Channel Stat.us

Classification

Description

A

No Defined Channel - Includes areas that. have no
identifiable nat.ural channel or in which development
has obscured and eliminated a natural channel exist.ing
before development.

.

B

Poorly Defined Channel - Includes areas with channels
definable only in terms of the 5- to lO-yr
recurrence int.erval discharge and with significant
f1 ood 1'1 ain.

11
