(8) Land Use Index - Drainage subbasins were correlated with census
tract boundaries and land use data derived by t.he Denver Regional Council
of Governments was used to develop a land use index number. Land use
was assigned a rank number according to this classification:

.

Land Use Ranking

Rank

Land Use Classification

1

Agricultural or Vacant

2

Parks & Recreation

3

Public, Semipublic, Services or Commercial

4

Industrial, Transportation & Communication

5

Single or Multifamily Residential

For each census tract an index number is computed by summing the product
of rank number and the percent of the tract occupied by the corresponding
land use. Wherever a basin occupies portions of more than one census
tract, the range of index numbers from low to high is given.

(9) Population Density - The number of people per acre is computed
for each census tract. Where a subbasin occupies more than one tract
the range from low to high is given.

.

(10) Basin/Flood Plain Development Status - Every subbasin has been
classified in terms of the present status of development within the
basin using this alphabetic classification system:

Classification of Basin/Flood Plain Status

Cl ass ificat ion

Description

A

Full Development - Includes basins in which
urbanization is complete or essentially complete,
and also basins, particularly those in the foothill
areas, in which development has reached essentially
its full st.age.

B

Probable Development - Includes basins that have not
reached full development stat.us, but. will in the
immediate future become fully developed.

.

10
