The CONTRACTOR shall process requests for material <br />substitutions m a timely manner. Prior approval of substitutions is mandatory before <br />installation. <br /> <br /> <br />MATERIALS APPROVAL. The CONTRACTOR shall submit, in writing, the names and <br />addresses of Ule manufacturers or suppliers of all materials to be used on this project. Such <br />information shall include applicable testing certifications, sizes, types, design specifications, <br />location of source, etc., and shall be submitted to the ENGINEER, between the time of the <br />awarding of the CONTRACT and the time the "Notice to Proceed" is issued, in order that <br />ample time can be allowed for testing and inspection of the various materials to be used. All <br />materials and equipment must be new and approved by the ENGINEER prior to start of <br />construction, <br /> <br />PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTALS. The CONTRACTOR shall submit SHOP DRAWINGS, <br />requests for material and equipment approvals and/or substitution approvals, etc., in a timely <br />manner so as to allow fourteen (14) calendar days for review, research, testing and inspection <br />if necessary. <br /> <br />Nonnally, a minimum of six (6) full sets of submittal documents for each request will be <br />required to be furnished to the ENGINEER. Upon approval or disapproval by the <br />ENGINEER, distribution will be made as follows: <br /> <br />2 sets returned to CONTRACTOR <br />2 sets furnished to CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR or RESIDENT <br />ENGINEER (1 set shall be marked "As Constructed, RECORD <br />FILE" and filed with the Construction Record File <br />1 set furnished to the OWNER <br />I set retained by the ENGINEER <br /> <br />Prior to submitting any SHOP DRAWINGS or other required documents for material and <br />equipment approvals and/or substitution approvals to the ENGINEER, the CONTRACTOR <br />shall carefully review such documents to assure that they are complete and adequate in every <br />respect. The CONTRACTOR shall endorse each submittal, regardless of sonrce, and shall <br />certify um he has reviewed, checked and approved the documents and it is his opinion that <br />they are in conformance with the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. <br /> <br />COSTS. No separate payment will be made for any of the requirements of this General <br />Condition and all costs incurred will be considered to be included in the CONTRACT PRICES <br />bid. <br /> <br />SUGGESTIONS TO CONTRACTOR, Any plan of action, method of work or construction <br />procedure suggested to the CONTRACTOR by the ENGINEER, INSPECTOR, or the OWNER <br />or any of their representatives, whether orally or in writing, if adopted or followed by the <br />CONTRACTOR in whole or in part, shall be at the sole risk and responsibility of the <br />COI\TRACTOR. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. Unless otherwise directed by the ENGINEER, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall submit to the ENGINEER, prior to commencement of WORK a schedule <br />of all construction operations showing the sequence of WORK and the dates on which each <br />segment of the WORK is expected to be started and completed. Within seven (7) days after <br />the first day of each monUl, the CONTRACTOR shall submit a summary report of the work <br />completed. If an extension of CONTRACT time, is granted by the ENGINEER for any <br />justifiable reason, the CONTRACTOR shall submit a revised construction schedule in <br />accordance with the approved extension. <br /> <br />III -10 <br />(1723 - IO/93) <br /> <br />~ <br />
