If any of the <br />above mentioned information is required, the CONTRACTOR will, as soon as the work <br />begins, prepare a schedule for its submission to the ENGINEER. The purpose of the schedule <br />is to establish at an early date the needs and dates of needs so that the approval process does <br />not delay the WORK. No WORK based on such supplementary DRAWINGS and <br />SPECIFICATIONS shall be performed until such supplemenrary DRAWINGS and <br />SPECIFICATIONS have been reviewed as herein provided. <br /> <br />Since this supplemental data may be needed to assure that the designer's concepts, as expressed <br />by the DRAWINGS and SPECIFICATIONS are correctly interpreted and that the final work <br />product satisfied the design intent, review of the supplemental data shall be the responsibility <br />of the design professionals. Submittal of this data shall follow the normal channels of <br />communication. All submittals, regardless of sources, must be endorsed by the <br />CONTRACTOR. <br /> <br />Review of supplementary DRAWINGS and SPECIFICATIONS is based only on whether or <br />, not these indicate that the subject of the supplemental data satisfies the basic design concept <br />and intent. Such review by the designer shall never be used by the CONTRACTOR to claim <br />relief from his ultimate responsibility of providing to the OWNER the end product for which <br />it contracted. <br /> <br />When submitted for review, SHOP DRAWINGS shall bear the CONTRACTOR's certification <br />that he has reviewed. checked and approved the SHOP DRAWINGS and that they are in <br />conformance with the requirements of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAIL DRAWINGS ISSUED BY ENGINEER OR <br />OWNER. The CONTRACTOR may be furnished additional instructions and detail drawings, <br />by the ENGINEER and/or OWNER as necessary to carry out the WORK required by the <br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. <br /> <br />The additional drawings and instructions thus supplied will become a part of the CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS. The CONTRACTOR shall carry out the WORK in accordance with the <br />additional detail drawings and instructions. <br /> <br />SUBSTITUTIONS. No approval of requests for substitutions of equivalent materials, <br />equipment, processes, or products will be made prior to the award of CONTRACT; however, <br />approval of all substitutions is mandatory prior to installation. <br /> <br />Documentation, related information and data, including but not necessarily limited to the <br />following, shall be submitted: <br /> <br />a. Full catalog data, specifications, drawings, illustration, etc., showing complete <br />engineering physical and mechanical characteristics, dimensions, performance, <br />capacity and ratings, and all other necessary information. <br /> <br />b Any and all departures from the SPECIFICATIONS must be pointed out and shown <br />on material submitted. <br /> <br />c. Reas8n for requesting "Or Equal" such as quality, cost of maintenance or operation, <br />price, delivery, etc. <br /> <br />The ENGINEER shall indicate approval or disapproval of the requested sUbstitution(s) either <br />by separate letter or by endorsement on the CONTRACTOR's letter of request.
