-<t.

-2-

Upon completion of the non-federal Cherry Creek PMP Technical Review by the CWCB
and local sponsors, what is the next step? During the open discussions at the June 19th
meeting, the committee members presented a number of requests/options for moving the
project forward. Please consider the following requests/options and reply to the CWCB.

Currently the proposed requests/options are:

,

. REQUEST NO.1 - Can the Corps use the AWA PMP values and the Corps' 1995 PMF
model, the Corps will compute the PMF storage pool volume and compare the value to
the existing reservoir space and Corps' 1995 storage volume that presently has a
requirement for an additional 1 00,000 Acre-Foot of storage space to the existing
reservoir pool?
. REQUEST NO.2 - Should the Corps not have the resources to perform REQUEST NO.
1, can the Corps provide its 1995 PMF Model to the CWCB so a non-federal PMF
volume determination can be computed using the Corps procedures and AWA's PMP
input parameters?
. REQUEST NO.3 - Is there an opportunity to revise the Corps' dam safety operational
requirements regarding storage and spill schedules for the Cherry Creek Dam and
Reservoir?
. REQUEST NO.4 - Should the Corps not have the resources to address REQUESTS 1-
3; Can the Corps partner with the CWCB and the NWS in a joint request to the National
Academy of Science for the resolution and determination of reasonable PMP values for
the Cherry Creek Basin using the findings in the NWS 1995 PMP Study and the AWA
2003 PMP Study?

The resolution of the proposed need for additional PMF storage issue for Cherry Creek Dam
and Reservoir in Denver, Colorado is important one to the State of Colorado, the sponsoring
communities and the Corps of Engineers. When the Corps has formulated a position and
response regarding this formal request, please provide me your cursory comments. Please also
provide approximate meeting dates so I can schedule a project review meeting with the
sponsoring communities working group called the Project Advisory Committee. I welcome the
Corps' involvement in the CWCS technical review of the Cherry Creek PMP and PMF Studies.
I await your response - Thank You!

cc.
