.
.
.
I.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

ll.l.l LOCATION ENTERING HOLITA DITCH. The problem arises when the

storm drain enters the Holita Ditch. The storm drain empties into the Holita Ditch at

approximately the center of the of the area of the ditch from its start to Interstate Highway

25, At the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Russell Avenue, parallel to Colorado

Avenue, the drain enters the ditch.

11.1.2 DIMENSIONS AND COMPOSmON. The exact dimensions of the storm drain
are not available because design drawings are not available. Therefore, rough
measurements and estimates were taken at the site. The height of the entrance at the

highest point is approximately 3' with a length of 4'6". Measurements of5T' by 38"

were previously reported by the Soil Conservation Service [13]. The composition of the

CM Pipe Arch is metal, either tin or aluminum.

11.2 PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF HOLITA DITCH. During storms, the water

in this ditch is reported to be immense and out of control. As the water leaves the drainage

pipe, it hits against the opposite bank with immense volume and force. The bank was

eroding away so it was reinforced with concrete. The water carries much silt and debris

through that section of ditch and also erodes quite a bit of bank. The dimensions at that

section are included as well as the dimensions at various other locations within the

pertinent area in this section of the report.

5
