Much of our <br /> <br /> <br />project is the collection of research and field work. We collected data in the fonn of <br /> <br /> <br />maps, photographs, and measurements We analyzed the community's needs for flood <br /> <br /> <br />control of the Holita Ditch by taking inventory of the existing drainage structures, <br /> <br /> <br />measuring the geometry of the ditch, and confinning the drainage basin boundaries ([3], <br />"Project Report"). <br /> <br />11.1 PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF STORM DRAIN. A description of the stonn <br />drain entering into the Holita ditch, including history, location, and dimensions, is given in <br />this section. <br /> <br />11.1.0 HISTORY. The stonn drain was constructed around 1985 as a federal project <br /> <br />The design drawings for the drain are unavailable, but it is known that Wilson and <br /> <br />Company of Colorado Springs, Colorado, designed the stonn sewer. Therefore, the <br /> <br /> <br />configuration of the drainage system in which it occurs is unknown. It has been assumed <br /> <br /> <br />that many street drains empty underground into this main stonn drain. It currently drains <br /> <br /> <br />the northwest portion ofWalsenburg, Colorado, down Main Street to Russell Avenue. <br /> <br />4 <br />
