The objectives of the study are to enable FEMA to
provide communities with a study enabling them to adopt floodplain management
measures that meet requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program
(NFIP), and determine flood hazard areas and actuarial flood insurance rate
zones for communities participating in the NFIP. The work performed by FEMA
includes the following tasks: 1) field reconnaissance of the study areas,
2) field surveys of hydraulic structures, 3) obtaining floodplain and channel
cross sections, 4) a regional hydrologic flood frequency analysis to determine
flood discharges, 5) hydraulic analysis using HEC-2 to determine water surface
elevations, 6) preparation of maps and draft study reports including flood
hazard factors and flood insurance rate zones for each flooding source within
the study areas.
Project Period: January 1982 through October 1982
Project Budget: $96,000
Reference: Dr. Y.
