Severe flooding has occurred on Sand

Creek in the past. SLA was contracted to develop the most feasible flood

control plan for Sand Creek.

The scope of services for this study includes review of previous work

completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, identification of existing

flooding problems and channel stabilization problems, development of alter-

natives to stabilize the channel and reduce the flooding potential, hydraulic

calculations for the selected alternative, and the associated alternative

I

I

I

I

costs.

I

In addition, a preliminary design of the selected alternative will be

performed. A more detailed hydraulic analysis will then performed to verify

the reduction of flooding with the proposed alternative. The preliminary

design will consider the sediment transport rates within Sand Creek deter-

mining the long-term stable slope of the channel.

Project Period: October 1982 through Present

Project Budget: $28,000

Reference: Mr. Ben Urbonas
Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District
2480 West 26th Avenue
Suite 156B
Denver, CO 80211
(303) 455-6277

I

I

I

I

I

I

I

I I

I

I

I
